What is insert injection moulding

insert Injection molding is a process in which an insert, that is preplaced in the mould is overmoulded by plastics.

Polymers or plastic materials have many advantages compared to metal formed through various processes. After demolding, the results is a product usually made out of two material in one, with an extra function. eg: an insert can be a metal or brass fastener. Or a wire  or connector in the electronics industry.

Sometimes insert molding is also called overmoulding.

In that case a plastic is the "insert" and will be overmoulded by a second plastic or rubber ( eg.: tpr or tpr )
